Ayo Tikare is singer with a passion for African music. Born and raised in Nigeria, she enjoys singing both contemporary and traditional tunes. Since the age of ten she has been singing in several choirs and bands as was lead singer with “The Liberators” for several years. Ayo’s dream is to encourage people from various backgrounds and cultures to enjoy the rich diversity of sounds from the African continent in various languages like Twi, Gaa, Ewe, Krio, Hausa, Yoruba, Ibo, Lingala and Bemba.
Her latest album, “Praises from Africa” is a lively blend of traditional African music and dance.
She has been influenced by longstanding artists like Manu Dibango, Bola Are, Kenneth Appiah, Dupe Solana as well as modern artists like Midnight Crew, Gabriel Eziashi and Lara George. Her style of music is gospel fused with an eclectic mix of old and new styles spanning the African continent and she has done some collaborative work with Ibitayo Jeje, HESS and Florocka (Nathan Akiremi).
