Niran Obasa is a pianist, organist, composer, arranger, orchestrator and a music producer. He is a Licentiate of the Trinity College London in Piano recital. He has been in the music scene of over thirty years. He had his first public performance at the age of 13 as budding organist.
He has a versatile experience of all the major genre of music ranging from Classical, jazz, Fusion Nigerian native folklores and western Contemporary music. Niran Obasa spends most of the 90s performing organ recitals and playing Church organ music. At present is preparing to do a series of organ recital revamp in Africa. As a pianist/composer he has written piano solos such the Oluwa ma seun, Otito ,moni ni.
His most recent piano work is the Piano suite titled Children of Chibok (8 set piece) 2014. He has written and arranged over 20 choral works. These includes Alagbara bi ara, which was performed at the world Choir Competition in Italy, 2011. Some of his compositions include Piano and voice, piano and trumpet. As a Classical pianist, he has performed in concerts in London and Lagos, Nigeria.
As a jazz Pianist, he has a band called Niran Obasa and the jafafrik Band. The band plays 100% his Composition and arrangement. He is Very dynamic in expressing himself Ballads, afro fusion salsa, smooth jazz, funk jazz etc. He is also a member of The inrhythm band. As a seasoned accompanist, Niran Obasa has played with notable musicians both within Europe and abroad. He has accompanied, Ron Kenoly, Bob fit, Herbert kunle Ajayi, Dr Panam Percy Paul and Yoruba women Choir. As a music producer He has produced over 100s of artist with different styles of music. He is also multi-talented musician that can play additional instruments.
